Meanwhile, we think Guinness is planning a party here at the house because she won't have the two white ones under foot. She's been too cooperative while Mom's been cleaning the house this week. We hope we meet lots of friends tomorrow. Join us if you can, stay tuned for pictures and updates if you can't. And it's never too late to sponsor!

Playin ball with daddy

Haroo, Everypuppy! Misty here to tell you about my dad's new trick. We had a really great time at the dog park yesterday, even if we were the only pups there. It was a little humid, but it was early, so it wasn't too hot. Anyroo, I found a ball that somepuppy left behind and taught daddy a new trick called, "throw the ball, human." He did very well, after some initial training.

Now, before you huskies get upset about my "doing tricks," remember, I am training dad. And, I am half GSD too. Guinness trained dad to throw the freebee for her a long time ago. All she needs to do is bring it to him now and he does just as he is supposed too. So, I thought that a little training session of my own was necessary.

Misty, Daddy and a lil' bit of bootie

All together now, "Oh, how cuuuuuute."

Misty's Yarn

Haroo, Everypuppy! Misty here. Look what mom made. She worked hard on that. Her paws are always playing with those little sticks and yarn and this is one of the many things that happened. Then we discovered that she can put it on. I guess that's good since she doesn't have enough fur. I don't understand her color choice, tho'. Don't you think white would be better? But this color sure shows off all of our contributions to this project.

Mommy looks sleepy here - this was taken first thing this morning before she went to wrrrk. I am usually very camera shy, but I wanted her to know how much I wanted to go outside when she was done showing off.
Now she's gonna work on other projects for little bipeds & this interesting holiday that Shiloh & Guinness refer to as "the day millions of people come to our house and eat food, pet us dogs, then mom and dad go to sleep, wake up and everybody gets to open presents" day.

Pinkness

Haroo, Everypuppy! Our extra handsome Pippa has been concerned about his extra cute muzzle turning pink. We think it's just him blushing over all of his girlfriends. We did promise to tell the story of when Guinness turned pink.

Once upon a time there was a sweet puppy at a local pet store where they take unwanted litter puppies (no puppy mill puppies!). There she was, all curled up, the only one of her litter there. Mom fell in love & took her home as a birthday present for daddy. She met her big brother General and life was good for a few days. Well, it turned out the puppy brought home a virus and her immune system was really struggling to fight it off. That allowed evil puppy mange to take over about 80% of our sweet baby girl. She was loosing all of her pretty fur and just looked naked, pink and sad.

Off she went to the vet. He said mom & dad had to put this nasty, icky stuff all over her to kill those evil mites. It smelled like chemicals and mom was scared that the stuff would be worse for her baby girl than the mites. Thank goodness Guinness finally got rid of those nasty critters. This picture shows her at about 1 year old, still pink, but getting her fur back. Look at those long legs & ears!

Weekend Adventures

Sunday is our day of rest after Saturday adventures.
Our first adventure was Shiloh's second visit to the library. We were their first, so we had a captive audience.

More kids came in as the afternoon progressed. He's actually looking like he had a good time. He has his own groupies now. Daddy has a good time too.

After we got home, dad decided it was time to take down the dead pear tree in the lawn as well as the sick peach tree. We played in the yard and mom decided to get some video of Misty for the Petfinder venue MaPaw uses.

Not too long after this video was taken, Misty apparently got into eating some of the butternut squash leaves from the garden. She didn't eat her breakfast that morning, so she may not have been feeling well. Well, she started to be sick and threw up some blood. Mom & Dad quickly went into action mode and took her to the Vet ER. They were gone a good long time. We were really worried, cuz they forgot to feed us dinner! It had to be bad if that happened. When they came back, Misty told us about visiting the the ER, and the doc gave her 3 shots. Ouch! But the shots helped her to feel better. And we finally got our dinner.

So, today we are all just taking it easy and sleeping a lot - especially mom & dad. Mom made us all some food that was easy on our tummies, cuz Guinness hasn't been feeling well either. We are crossing our paws and hoping Shiloh doesn't get the doggie flu as well. Misty is going to visit Dr. Don, our regular vet, on Wednesday to follow up and check out a lump on her hip. Too many vet visits! We need a vacation.

Middle Name Meme

Jinx, a very pretty Siamese Cat with bewootiful blue eyes, had this meme of facts about middle names. Since we doggies sometimes have middle names, we thought it might be fun to try.
1. Post the rules before you give the facts.
2. List one fact that is somehow relevant to you and your life for each letter of your middle name. If you don’t have a middle name, use the middle name you would have liked to have had.
3. When you are tagged you need to write your post using your middle name and facts about it.
4. At the end of your post, choose one dog to tag for each letter of your middle name. Be sure to let each puppy know she/he has been tagged. (It's okay if you don't do this... tag who you want to tag!)

Shiloh will start. Mom says his middle name is Alexander
A=Amazing blue eyes
L=Lovely soul
E=Excellent companion
X=Xceptionally good lookin
A=Always happy to see you
N=Never too tired to play
D=Darling tender kisses
E=Elegant
R=Really shy

Guinness is next. Her middle name is Marie.
M=Mostly black & tan
A=Always a lady
R=Really pointy nose, good for goosing daddy after his shower
I=Ideal grrlfriend
E=Excellent watchdog. She even barks at the invisible

Misty, last, but not least. Her middle name is Ann.
A=Always kissing
N=Never too tired to give kisses
N=No one is exempt from kisses

Okay, let's see. We should tag Kelsey Ann, Echo and the Army of Four to get things started

Chillin & Creativity

It's been a bit cooler here lately, so the dogs are enjoying the weather before it gets hot again. Also, Guinness hasn't been herself lately - she's got a case of the doggy flu that's goin round. Shiloh would like to taste one of Frankie Grrl's Sibe-tini's. Mom prefers chillin with Cosmo's. She loves Cosmos too. (Get it, Amber? hee hee!)

So mom is back! I originall posted this on my personal blog, but I'm bored so...
Saw this on Sally's blog and thought I'd give it a go. She's a very cool lady & a creative soul.

What are your creative limits?
I'd like to think that I don't have too many. I've always thought of myself as a very creative person. I'm an actor, storyteller, children's siberian-er-librarian, crafty human, cook, decorator, make-up artist and all around hip & cool Dog Mom.

1. I have no interest in the following activities:
Scrapbooking, quilting, anything involving math or heavy thinking or many rigid rules - I am a free form girl.

2. Would love to try these things:
Jewelry making, toy making, stained glass, pottery, making handbags.
3. I do or have dabbled in these things:
Embroidery, sewing of clothes and other things, photography, wood working, gardening, writing, painting, beading.

4. Love it! These are my things:
Knitting, crochet, cooking, entertaining, decorating, storytelling & performing, teaching. I am also really into recycling or re-purposing clothing and other objects at the moment.

I'd really like to get my lazy ass in gear and make gifts for xmas this year. Yea, we'll see about that. I'd also like to design yoga mats that people would like from something other than PVC. I imagine either something from really soft yarn or recycled clothing - quilted, but by machine. I think something tactile, but it can't be too much or it would be distracting during practice. Also not too lumpy, or balance would be an issue.

Back to my Cosmo before the ice melts. Or maybe a nightcap of Drambuie?

Bloggers United for the Hike

Haroo, Everypuppy! Shiloh & Misty got to meet a bunch of our fellow dog bloggin friends today! What a berootiful morning to go play with some terrific dogs. Here are Alexa, Kelsey Ann, Sasha, Shiloh, Misty and Magnum all lined up and ready for a training run for Hike & Howl. While the bipeds made their plans, we all got to know each other better. Many sniffs, roos, wags, and kisses as well as a couple of wrestling matches were involved.
Here's Misty and her super kisser giving Magnum's mom her special hello.

Dante here was a very playful dude.

He wasn't sure about Misty, but they worked things out.

Lexa is a very pretty princess.

Blue is the newest edition to Magnum's house, so we know we will here all about him on the MaPaw blog. He's a great guy who's had a rough beginning.

Misty saw something exciting and took off with mom still attached to her lead. Down went mom!
Shiloh & Misty immediately came to her aid. Shiloh protected her while Misty gave her the kisses of life. Mommy is all better now!
It sure was a great morning & we had a thorough training session. We can't wait for September 1st! Sure hope the weather will be as nice as today.

Hello, everyone - Mom here. The pups have let me have an evening on the ol' laptop for a change. I am here because, well, I have a problem and I need to get this off of my conscience.
Hello, my name is Denise and I am a project starter. Esp when it comes to knitting & crocheting. See, here is the evidence.

First is a crocheted skirt that is about 50% done. The pattern originally called for many colors, but I am a goth girl at heart. It has copious amounts of dog hair included. They enjoy being part of the process.

Next, there is the yoga sweater in ecru glossy yarn that is really soft. It is knitted from one side to the other. So, here you see one sleeve and the beginning of the one side, front & back.
So, here I was going on & on about knitting & crocheting and it occurred to me that I've never made anything for anyone else. I had promised myself in the past that I'd never do anything for a deadline. I really freaked myself out on that for my wedding.
A friend is having her second boy any day now. So, I've to make blankets for both boys. These are not baby blankets. They are boy blankets they will be able to use as they grow up. The same pattern, but different colors. It was hard coming up with colors. Mom said that Liam has periwinkle colored stuff already and she has always liked blues & purples. Then I saw the soft green & purple water colored yarn that goes so well, and dad has always been an earthy guy. So, the yarn store made up my mind for me.
Oh, yea, the small gray piece is the beginning of a baby bootie. Just cuz I wanna try them. I am determined to finish all of these projects before I begin anything else damnit! But I'd like to make xmas presents too. sigh
Help me to be strong. I have a problem. They say the first step is admitting you have a problem. So, I did it. Now, I'd better get to work finishing one of these. Thanks for listening. The dogs will be back soon, I promise.

Training Wheels and Water

These are Shiloh's new training wheels. We were able to borrow a wheelchair to help ease him into being around them and help train him for therapy dog work. We also procured a walker. Daddy wants to hook up his sled dogs to the wheelchair and have the dogs pull him to the refrigerator for a beer. Silly daddy.

Misty can certainly appreciate boyfriend Pippa's lasted blog posting - it's hot! Here she is cooling her paws in the pool after a training session for the Hike N' Howl. She also enjoys the shade of our dwarf peach tree. This is her best "Misty of the Jungle" picture.

Guinness didn't want the white dogs to get all of the attention, especially when she can show off for Pippa too. Guinness is the best swimmer of the bunch. She doesn't want you all to think she doesn't work hard too. She's just too lady-like to show it on camera.

Tryin to beat the heat

Lots of our blogging friends have been talking bout taking trips to Sonic. We don't have sonics here in SE PA, but we do have Rita's! They have yummy cold stuff called water ice - which is a lot like a slushy, but better. Mom & Dad like Mango flavor, but they have loads of others too. It's especially good mixed with their custard ice cream!

Here Guinness & Shiloh are giving Dad their best sit & be good pose to see if he will share some.

And it works! Can you believe he fell for that!

Of course, Misty gets some too. From the picture here, it seems that Shiloh might like some more.

Crazy mom and dad went out into the hot, hot heat without us today to go to something called Musikfest and listen to people woo. Mom says it wasn't as hot as she expected it to be and they discovered a couple of bands that they enjoyed: The Arrogant Worms and Zydepunk: New Orleans, Cajun, Klezmer, Breton, Irish, Gypsy Zydeco Music. The Arrogant Worms are really funny and The Zydepunks are pretty cool - even though the description & the accordions may scare off some.

We pups are glad they left us here in the AC. Now, can we have some more of that Water Ice stuff, please?

Dreaming of Exotic Places

The heat and hooomidity has been extremely bad here in PA .
Not good for man nor puppy. We haven't been able to keep up with our husky hike training schedule as much as we would like because of the heat. It does make us think of traveling to exotic places to beat the heat.

Misty is here on the pomegranate couch in the AC dreaming of her boyfriend, Pippa. She's dreaming of a day when she cross the giant water bowl of ocean and get to visit him in Gibraltar.

Can I mom, can I go visit Pippa someday?

Mom says, "Only if I get to come too!" Then she said something about dogs & passports. What's a passport? How do you woo in Spanish?

In the mean time, thanks to those who have stepped up and sponsored us! We have a long way to go. All of the sad story doggies are getting the most the pledges. Shiloh is working on his best woeful eyed husky pose. Misty is going for the direct approach.
"You will pledge today. You will visit me at the hike and help me to win the kissing contest. Look into my bewootiful blue eyes. You cannot resist. Can I kiss you?"

Harooooo at the Moon

It's that time of the month again. They hardly need turn the back yard light on for us in the evening with that big full moon shining down on us. Of course, they do turn on the light and it scares away all of the bunnies. Mom says that she's glad we aren't like the kids at her wrrrrk. They get all weird when there is a full moon and make her cranky. She's says she's glad to have quiet huskies with broken howls, and a mostly quite GSD, so she can come home from wrrrk and rejuvenate. After an evening of freebee toss and a good dinner, with some knitting thrown in, she then likes to curl up on the pomegranate leather sofa with one of us snuggled in her lap and softly stroke our fuzzy ears. She might have a small glass of wine or other soothing beverage too. Why won't she let us have some?

Mommy came home late and told us that she got to meet Sasha's mom at the Hike n Howl meeting. We are pretty upset. I mean, first, she leaves us at home. Then she goes and plans stuff without us! Isn't this hike about doggies? We think there should be doggies on the committee!!

Then, we find out that we white doggies are woefully behind everyone in pledges for the hike. Sniff, sniff. Shiloh only has one pledge (Thank Woo! Someone loves me!) and poor Misty has no one. (Hey, I'm cute and give kisses!)

Mom, I think we need a hug.
