Cookies and more

Haroo everyone! Guinness Grrl reporting in again. Sorry that we haven't blogged in a while. Things have been very busy here at the Inn. Mom and I have been getting ready for the upcoming howliday by baking loads of cookies! As you can see here, mom made her favorites - Peanut Blossoms. The pretty flower shaped ones are deep fried Rosettes with powdered sugar sprinkled on them. She also made loads and loads of biscotti. Yummy! Though, I couldn't taste test most of them - chocolate is bad for us puppers.

Mom and I have also been very busy in the quilting studio. She is finished with her howliday sewing projects and is now turning to a new project. The center panel of the newest quilt is pictured here. Isn't it bewootiful?
Mom is taking time off of wrrrk to clean the Inn and get ready for the annual howliday party on Christmas Eve. She's gonna be cookin and cleanin her heart out. Shiloh and I help a lot by supervising and reminding mom that rest and romp breaks are needed often. If you are in our neighborhood on Christmas Eve, you're invited to the party! Stop on in, we'd love to see you!
If we don't see you, we hope that your howliday is special and everything that you want it to be.
Love & Snoses,
Guiness Grrl

Santa's Lil Helper

Haroo everyone. Guinness reporting in today with a pupdate on the doings of the Inn. Mom has been very busy with over 12 quilting projects for friends and family for the upcoming Christmas holiday. As you may know, I am her helper in the quilting studio, so it's been a lot of work. I'm worn out just thinking about all of those quilts that I helped mom baste.

She's also been making little tiny little totes for her grrlfriends and coworkers. Aren't they cute? I have to take a lot of breaks from helping these days, but mom says I'm still a lot of her to her in the studio. Shiloh likes to help too, when I"m on break. He gets the projects nice and hairy so people will know that we doggies love them too.
The weather has been rainy and gloomy here, so getting ready for the holidays has been our way of cheering up. Mom says that tree they get every year is on it's way this weekend, so I'll be helping with the positioning and consulting on the decorating. So much to do this time of year!
Haroo for now. Love & kisses,
Guinness Grrl.

Dog Sitting & Shiloh, the Great White Hunter

Hello, everyone. Mom reporting in here. Not much happening at the Stoutino Inn since Buster got adopted. We've gotten pupdates on him and he's settling in quite nicely with his new family. He even has a doggy door to go in and out as he pleases. Mo likes to take Buster on tours of the best places to sniff & pee.

We are taking a break from fostering for a while, but we do have a four legged visitor. We are dog sitting a friend's pup, Klondike. Here he is helping me check my email.

Klondike is an older dog, so he likes to take it easy and just relax. Perfect for us right now, so Guinness doesn't get knocked off of her wobbly feet. She's doing as well as she can to get around. Still getting up and down stairs and in and out without too much trouble.

Shiloh has been taking everything in stride too. Here he is, the Great White Hunter, with what is left of a toy we won in a gift basket from Hike n Howl. What you don't see in the picture is the little lion's stuffing all over the dining room floor.

That's the latest happenings here. Hope you are all doing well and have lots of fun stuff too.

Love, Mom Stoutino

Meet Buster's New Family

Haroo there! Meet my new family! This big boy is my new little brother, Mo. Foster mom calls him a great big goober. Here I am telling my new dad, John, what a good boy I am going to be for them.

Here is a better picture of dad John and Mighty Mo. Mo is a ham for the camera as you can tell- he's only four years old. I was out investigating my new yard - there is a doggy door at this house and I can go outside whenever I want too!

Here is a picture of my new big sister, Minerva. She's a year older than me at eleven and a very sweet grrl. She's asking dad if it's okay if I stay with her - isn't that nice? Mo had to stick his big nose in the picture though. I also have a new mom named Dawn, but foster mom forgot to take her picture - silly! She's a real nice lady and I think she's gonna be a great mom. I have already made myself right at home in this new house and really like it here.

I wanna say thanks to everyone for the great sibe vibes when I was sick and helping me fit into the Stoutino Inn. I'll keep in touch - I promise!

Love, Buster

Meet & Greet at Hike n Howl

Haroo everyone! Buster here again. Foster mom says that we're going to Hike N Howl on Saturday. It's a fund raising event for MaPaw and a couple of other husky rescues. AND I might get to meet some very special people there. Someone who may want me to be their dog furever! I sure hope that they are nice people. I'm getting all nervous just thinking about it. Maybe I'll let mom brush me down and stuff so I look just right. Maybe....
Keep your paws crossed that everything goes well, okay? Hopefully we'll have some good news about what happened very soon.

Discovery

Haroo everyone! It's me, Buster! I've made this great discovery. There is this soft and comfy place that I've been missing out on all of this time - the pomegranate couch! Guinness likes to think that it's hers to enjoy and she does love to sit up there. I've been avoiding the furniture for a while - not sure if I was allowed up there or not. But I tried it last night and mom discovered me there this morning. I didn't know what I was missing. Wow is it comfy! Don't I look all comfy? I think I really like it here. Good thing for Guinness that there is room for two.

Now, I wonder if I can make it up onto that big bed upstairs....

The Best News!

Hi, everyone - Mom here again. Buster is cancer free!!!! Those sibe vibes are amazing and they work, never doubt that. His tumor was caused by too much estrogen and the neuter fixed that, so he's all good to go now! We are so happy and I swear I saw a smile on Buster's face tonight. He knows we've been worried about him and he can tell how happy we all are. Thanks to everyone for their support.

We still have to do something about his anemia - that's what's driving him to eat rocks and dirt. Anyone know of any supplements?

Mom Stoutino

Buster update

Poor Buster has has a rough couple of days. We took Buster to the vet last night because he has had diarrhea for a couple of weeks now and nothing seemed to help it go away. We thought he had picked up a bug of some sort. No other symptoms.

While we were at the vet's, Dr. Walters at Harleysville Veterinary Hospital said she found some concerns. One of Buster's testicles was enlarged, he had an enlarged prostate too. They needed to neuter him to see what they could do as fast as possible. They did some x-rays and found stones in his urethra and intestines. Our poor guy is all messed up!

Well, he came through the surgery very well. He'll be home on Thursday with some antibiotics. His prostate looks benign, but it will be a few days before we know about the testicular cancer.

Please pray for our sweet ol' Buster. This shows that neutering is very important for many reasons, not just controling pet population.

Buster Meets and Greets

Hello! It's Buster - and I got to go out on an adventure on a bewootiful day to Green Lane Park. It was the weekend of the Scotch-Irish Festival there. Loads of doggy rescues were there today in the bright sunshine and cool breezes. So we all made sure to look our best - I even got a BATH for the occasion! I met lots of very nice bipeds who scratched my ears and told me I was soft and handsome. There were lots of huskies to play with. I also got to meet Ma, of MaPaw, and a pretty grrl named Shelby - that's her with Ma in the picture. It was a furry nice day, but I'm all tuckered out, so I'm gonna go and take a nap. It's hard work being adored.
Ruff!
Buster

Disgusting

Contact Us - Philadelphia Eagles

We are thoroughly disgusted to be near a city who would give this man a second chance after what he has done. Contact the Eagles and tell them how YOU feel about a dog killer and torturer playing football in Philadelphia! We are never watching Eagles football again.

Meet Buster!

Hello pups! I'm Buster and I'm new at the Stoutino Inn & Foster Kennel. Weston and I swapped foster homes to help make Guinness more comfortable. She's a nice girl, so I don't mind helping out. Guinness and Shiloh have made me feel right at home here. There are lots of soft places for my old bones to lay down on. I'm 10 years old and have some arthritis, so soft places to lay are good things. I'm a GSD mix and there may be some Sibe in here too, who knows? I'm just glad that MaPaw helped me out and I'm no longer at the shelter.

Update on Guinness

Hi, everyone. Mom reporting in today. I thought that since we reported that Guinness was having some issues earlier, maybe an update was necessary. Unfortunately, the news is not good for my little grrl. Guinness most likely has Degenerative Myelopathy - a condition where her brain is unable to send the proper signals to her muscles. It is like MS for dogs and will keep degenerating as time goes on. Right now she's dragging her back left paw and stumbles quite often. There is no pain, thank goodness. However, she will eventually loose the use of her hind quarters and front as well. So, the decision for us will be how long she has quality of life. We are hoping that it will progress slowly.

We are going to make some changes at our house for her. Weston is going to go to another foster home soon, as he is waaaay too much of a puppy for her. We will, in turn, get an older and slower foster in return so she can be comfortable. So, stay tuned for pup-dates. We know that all of you wish her well and will keep Guinness in your thoughts. Thank you for that. that's why we love blogging so much! You are all terrific friends!

Action Packed Sunday

Hi there, pups! Weston is here to tell ya all bout the great time we had at the dog park this morning. We know most of you take it easy on Sundays, but we sure didn't! Shiloh & I were runnin and jumpin and havin a ball! It was a bewootiful morning and our dog park is very shady, with lots of trees to pee on, I mean to keep us cool.

Here I am taking a much needed water break - yum! Fresh, cool water - slurp!

Have a terrific Sunday, pups, no matter how you spend it!

Weston

Haroo all you puppers. Guinness Grrl reporting in today. Here I am, at the V-E-T! I had to get my annual checkup. I was a very good grrl, in spite of all of the very rude things that they did to me. But it is all over for now. Our vet is very nice - his name is Dr. McGuff at Schwenksville Veterinary Medical Arts. all of the staff there are very sweet and tell me how pretty I am.
I am having some weakness in my hind legs, but I am otherwise fit as a fiddle - that's mom's expression. I am going to a specialist about my legs next week, so there is sure to be more treats for good behavior while I am there.
See how good I am being???

7/12/09

Lazy Sunday

Hi, puppers! It's Weston here. Dad caught me relaxin with my bone. Isn't this what Sunday's are all about? I really like it here on the couch. Guinness doesn't let me up here very often, so I have to get couch time when I can.

Roo ya later,
Weston

Pierogie Party

Today we had a big party at our house. All of the humans were there playing with dough and filling it with awesome stuff like sauerkraut and potatoes, and even berries like strawberries and blueberries! Yummy!

This is only one of the five batches that were made today.

This weekend has gone to the dogs!

Everything we did this weekend was because of doggies! Ray got adopted and Weston came to the Stoutino Inn. Sunday was a day filled with dog park fun! Two dog parks! One indoors and one out. And boy are we tired now. Here are some better shots of Weston. We are all guessing his non-husky half is Lab - what do you think?

A new day brings good news

Hello everyone. Mom reporting today with good news - Ray has been adopted! He has a very wonderful, husky experienced, family and a new sister named Daisy (also a husky). He now lives in Lancaster with these great folks. We were, of course, sad to see him leave, but we know he is in a very good place. Best wishes to Ray!

Just after dropping off Ray, I went to the York SPCA to spring yet another husky in need and bring him to the Stoutino Inn. Meet Wessen. We think Weston or Wess is a better name, however. Wess is a BIG BOY, who is only 1 year old. Very playful and spunky too. Guinness and Shiloh are getting along just fine with Wess. And, as you can see, he loves the water. Good thing too - he stank from the shelter, so a bath was a first priority.

However, we cannot stay too clean! Hee hee!

A sad day

It is with a heavy heart that we report that our former foster brother, Dunkin, went to the Rainbow Bridge today. He was very happy in his new home right up until the very end. He visited nursing homes and made others as happy as he was. Unfortunately, his hips were very bad and could no longer support him, so his family let him go to the Bridge to be young and free again.

We love you Dunkin and we know you are looking after all of us and the fosters from the Bridge.

Grrl's Day Out

Haroo, everypup, it's Guinness Grrl today. As you may know, I am the resident weather grrl here at the Stoutino Inn. It's been raining, raining, raining here for days, but today the sun finally came out! Mom & I took advantage of the nice weather and her day off to have a Grrl's Day Out.
First, however, we went to my vet's office for a check-up. My back legs have been giving me some trouble, so mom felt it was time to get them checked out. Turns out I have some mild arthritis, which is easily manageable with diet and some new supplements.
After the vet's office, mom and I went to the doggie park! Here I am, surveying the terrain - isn't it a lovely park? I don't get to go there very often, so I really enjoyed my visit there, just mom & me. After the dog park, we ran some errands and came home.

At home, mom likes to quilt in her free time. She has a special room all set aside for that - here I am helping her keep the latest one in place. Aren't I nice?

Well, it's been a really busy day! I'm all worn out. Good thing there is another pomegranate couch in mom's quilting room for me to supervise from.
Here's hoping you have a grrreat and sunny day too!

Love & Snoses,
Guinness Grrrl

Special Guest Star, Part 2

Hello all. Mom again today. Well, most of you guessed correctly! Our special guest star is Zimmie of the Army of 4. We had a great time visiting with Zim and his wonderful mom. Zimmie was having a great time investigating a family of red squirrels that were playing in a nearby tree. He really wanted to play with those squirrels! But Zim did give me a few kisses before the visit was over.

Guinness, Shiloh and Ray had a nice vacation from us while we were gone. They were good puppies while we were away and were very happy to see us when we got back. They are very jealous that we got to meet Zim and they didn't.

Our tour of the midwest included 10 wineries and 30 miles of hiking, so I included a picture of one of the pretty waterfalls we came across.

6/9/09

Special Guest Appearance

Hello all, mom reporting in today. We're back from our vacation to the midwest and boy did we have a terrific time! We visited 5 states, hiked over 30 miles, visited 10 wineries, and brought home over 21 bottles of wine. We went to Branson Missouri and played at the Silver Dollar City Amusement Park - woo-wee! Roller Coasters!
One of the biggest highlights of our trip, however, was meeting a very special friend in the fur - and his wonderful mom.

Can you guess you our special guest star for this post is?

Vacation and No-cation! No Fair!

Haroo everypup, it's Guinness Grrrl reporting in today. I just realized that our mom and dad are leaving for vacation and - gasp! They are not taking us! We're stuck here at home with our Aunt Katie looking after us while they go cool places in the woods and hike and stuff.

Hmmmm...hiking, camping, no pomegranate couch to lay on? Maybe it's better that we're staying here to guard the house. Besides, I've got my pool and my couch to lounge on. The boys have each other to wrestle with and we can party with Aunt Katie. Sounds like a nice vacation to me!

Here's hoping everypup & kitty has a safe & grrreat holiday weekend. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and everyone can be outside to have some fun.

Love & Snoses,
Guinness Grrl

Meet Ray!

Hi, everypup! I'm Ray. I'm new here at the Stoutino Inn & Foster Kennel. I'm a husky mix, with a possibility of Australian cattle dog, but they say they aren't sure.

I went to the dog park today with my foster bro', Shiloh, and boy did we have fun! There were beagles and rotties to play with and run with. We romped and strolled and had a blast til we were too tired to do anymore.

I like it here at the Stoutino's. They have a nice big yard for me, Shiloh and Guinness to romp in too. We're all getting along just fine. I think I'll like it here, until I find my fur-ever home. Thanks for letting be blog today!

3/2/09

Snow day!

Haroo, everypup! Guinness, your weather grrl, here today to talk about the SNOW! We got lots of the fluffy white stuff this morning, as you can see. Here we are, Shiloh and myself, being all rompy and poke-a-nosey in the snow. (Mom calls me "Poke-a-nose" cause I like to poke my very ladylike yet pointy snooter into things)

It's sure been quiet around here now that Bacci is no longer with us, but mom says that we're gonna have a new foster coming this weekend! I sure hope he likes the snow too. We will have to report back once the new one gets here and introduce everyone. Until then, go romp in the snow!

2/10/09

It's done!

Hello, everyone. Mom here today. With Bacci's help, I have completed the quilt! This is the biggest project I have done so far and there are lots of "humility" spots in it, but I like the way it turned out none the less. Dad has even said how much he likes it, and he never makes comments about my quilts!

Now, I'd better get it off of the floor before the dogs think that it's for them....

2/4/09

My new job

Ciao, everybuddy. Bacci reporting in today. Mom says I have a new job as Quilt Assistant. She spread this quilt backing onto our living room floor - the only space in our house where it would fit - so she could make a quilt "sandwich." Well, anything to do with food and I am there! So I helped myself to part of the sandwich by lounging on the backing. I'm still waiting for the sandwich to appear, however. No food was involved in this process at all! She just made layers of fluffy white stuff called batting and then more fabric that's she's been piecing together on top. The batting was kind of fun - it reminded me of the snow outside, but not wet and cold. As you can see, Guinness was overseeing the work as well, hoping for her own job - but she's our Weather Grrl, so she already has a job.

Anyroo, foster mom said that I was a very big help to her, keeping everything in place like that, so she gave me the job of Quilting Assistant. It will be my job to oversee the sandwich part of the process and make sure that every pup in the house contributes copious amounts of dog hair to each quilt, making them extra warm and fluffy. It's a big responsibility! I wonder what I get paid for this extra service? hmmmm.....we'll have to talk....

Ciao for now, Bellas!

1/17/09

Cold days call for soup!

Haroo everypup! It's Guinness, your weather grrl here, reporting that it is COLD outside. The boys love the cold and they play outside like it's the middle of summer or something. Me, I come inside as quick as a bunny. It's also cold enough that dad decided to make some chicken soup. Good thing too, he and mom have had these terrible hacking coughs for over a week now.

Anywoo, here we are, all three of us jr chefs, waiting to help dad and supervise the soup makings. We have to be sure he gets just the right amount of chicken into the pot or he'll mess the whole thing up. He'll put some other good things in the pot too, like one of my personal favs-carrots, and celery and other yummies too. Then he'll let is simmer on the stove and the whole house will smell heavenly.

Hope all of you are staying warm and toasty and out of the cold, unless you like that sort of thing.

Love and snoses,
Guinness Grrl

Pee Ess,
That wubba from the last post - it's history! The boys took it apart and now it's gone. Boys!
