Speaking Squirrel

Hi, everypup!  Guess what?  I am now six months old!  Mom says that I am getting to be a big girl too, 37 pounds.  Maybe someday I will be as big as my big sister, Genny.  Maybe not.  But we sure are having fun.

Genny is showing me all sorts of things.  Like how to swap out bones safely and all of the comfy snoozing spots in the house.  I am going to school again, cuz mom thinks I am so smart.

Now, it's not all roses here.  One day, on the way down the hill to the dog park, my leash snapped in half.  I lost mom for a minute and she was pretty scared.  But I led her to the gate of the park and everything was okay again.  Mom says that I chewed on the leashes while we were in the car.  But I never chew bad things at home.  Whatever happened, we got free replacements from the awesome folks at Lupine.  Mom gets all nervous now, checking the leashes, and even taking them off while we are riding in the car.  Silly mom, I wouldn't chance losing her a second time!

Genny is on mom's side, for some reason.  I think Genny needs more playtime.
She is also teaching me all about squirrels.  Genny is ever vigilent in watching for squirrels.  She thinks they are up to no good.  They are constantly spying on us from the neighbor's trees.  They aren't even very good at hiding.  Sometimes, they even call us names.  At least I think they do.  If I could only speak squirrel.

Being watchful for squirrels is especially important on walks.  Genny is hyper aware of them while we stroll our neighborhood.  I am looking out for crunchy leaves and sticks.  They can be sneaky too!  Mom's favorite thing to say during walks is "leave it." I don't know why.

Until next time,
Look out for squirrels!

Graduation Day!

Hi everypup!  I did it!  I graduated from obedience school!  I have a diploma and everything.  The teacher even gave us treats.  She calls me little squirt cuz. i am cute.  And this is just the beginning.  Teacher says I can comtinue my education and move on to the advanced class.  Advanced!  Me!  I think that means it will be harder, but she says I am smart enough to do it.  Tonight was fun.  We got to go through tunnels for treats and show off what we learned.

We stopped at the treat and toy store on the way home for graduation presents.

Somehow, Genny got one too, even though she graduated a long time ago.  We don't want her to feel left out.

I get a few weeks off until the next class starts.  Gotta keep practicing so I don't fall behind.

Until next time,
Arf!

20 Weeks

Hi everypup!  Here I am with my daddy.  He asks me to pose next to Tiki Ted every Sunday so he can see how big I am getting.  The first picture was taken today.  The second picture was taken at 11 weeks.  I am a whole head taller than Ted now!

Mom doesn't think that my other ear will pop up.  Everyone says how cute it is, so I don't mind.

I wonder just how big I am going to get?

Tomorrow is a big day - Graduation Day at Puppy School.  I am really nervous.  I've got to listen and do everything just so.  They all think I am really smart, especially for my age.  I want to prove them right!  Genny graduated as the "most improved" in her class.  She is super smart, so I have to keep up the good work.

Wish me luck!

School

Hi!  Chai here today.  Have. i told you about puppy school?  I don't think I have.  Puppy school is very serious.  We are learning so much important stuff!  First, we learn to sit next to mom or dad, perferably on their left side.  And we must also watch mom or dad very carefully.  They get so distracted if we don't keep a careful watch on them.  Then we learn to walk beside mom or dad so we can keep our eye on them while in motion.  It is very improtant to not be a sniffy puppy, or our humans can get lost or walk into something.

Next we learn that if our human stops, we stop and sit.  Then we learned stay.  Stay can be really hard.  Humans are always on the go, but for some reason, they like it when we sit in one place.  We have to wait while they walk all over the place.  Silly, I know.

My favorite trick is down.  I get to chill during this one.  All of this training is hard work!  I sneak a few downs in while our human teacher is talking.  Boy can she talk!   I try to say something sometimes during class, but mostly I listen so I can get more treats.  Did I tell you about the treats?  No?  We get treats for doing all of this silly stuff!

Our teacher says that the most important thing we can learn is Come!  It is very important to come to mom or dad when they call us.  They might have something very tastey, or somewhere fun they want to take us.  And we have to be sure that those silly humans are not getting into trouble and need our help.

The very best part of school is that we often stop on the way home for ice cream!  I LOVE ice cream!  The place we go makes special treats for us doggies with a bit of ice cream and a dog cookie.  Yummy!

Mom has been making us frozen treats at home too.  She makes chicken broth and gizzard pupsickles and fruit and yogurt pupsickles.  These are really yummy when it is hot out and are great when mom or dad go out without us.  I can chill in my crate with a pupsickle and not make a mess.  Messes make mom unhappy and I like to keep mom happy.

Well, I need to go study now so I can wow my teacher next week.  I hope you are keepin it cool!

Big Helper

Hi!  Chai here, workin in the studio with Mom today.  I am trying very hard to be a big helper.  She says she wants to get things done.  Not sure what things she is talking about, but I am here to help.   mom needed to cut some fabric and some fell where I could help by holding it in place.  The right pup for the right job!

Mom says I am getting bigger too.  We went to visit Dr Ross the other day and he said I weighed 18 pounds.  I also outgrew my collar, so Mom got me this really pretty purple one.  I have also graduated to a bigger crate for bedtime.  All of these changes!   Mom says they are just the beginning.

What I like the best is riding in the car and going to the dog park.  Genny knows the way and helps Mom get there.  I am taking notes in case I have to fill in someday.  At the park there are lots of doggies to play with!  And boy can we run!   Mom says that is the most helpful thing.
I wonder what other jobs I can help with?
Until next time, Arf!

Summer Daze

Hi, everypup!  It's Chai.  It has been a lot of fun here lately.  I have been in my new home for over a month now and settling in quite nicely.  My big sister, Genny, has been very patient with me, although I still have a lot of work to do getting her to play more.  Mom and dad have been trying to help both of us in that area by taking us to a terrific dog park and also by inviting a bunch of puppy friends to our place for puppy play dates.  It seems that a lot of their friends also adopted puppies recently and they all want us to get socialized and play togeter as often as we can.  I sure don't mind!  What fun!

It has been pretty hot, so we all got to play in the pool as well as run around the yard and wrestle.  Here I am with my new friends Sansa, Raven, and Max.  Raven especially liked the water.
Genny and the older dogs were their to teach us the rules.  Izzy and Pilot were a lot of fun for grown ups.

Well, I need to go take a nap now, so we will check in soon.  Stay cool!
